Government Gazette estate notices must be submitted ahead of the intended publication date. Executors, attorneys and estate administrators should allow time to complete the correct electronic form, arrange payment and resolve any outstanding information before the submission deadline.
Legal Notice Publishing assists with Government Gazette submissions and newspaper publication on Nuusflits, helping clients coordinate the booking and receive the relevant publication records afterwards.
Submission dates and publication dates are different
The submission deadline is the cut-off for providing the completed documents and payment required to process a booking. The publication date is the date on which the notice is scheduled to appear.
Sending a form on a Friday does not mean it can appear in that Friday’s Government Gazette. Bookings must be arranged in advance.
When requesting a quote, tell Legal Notice Publishing which publication date you need. We will advise on the applicable submission deadline and whether the requested date is still available.
Confirm the deadline before completing your booking
Government Gazette estate notices generally follow a weekly Friday publication cycle. Public holidays and year-end arrangements can affect both submission deadlines and publication dates.
Always check the deadline for the particular issue you need. An earlier deadline may apply around a public holiday and a previous month’s schedule should not be used to plan a new booking.
Legal Notice Publishing’s client submission deadline also allows time for checking documents and processing the booking before the Gazette’s own cut-off.
What must be ready before the deadline?
To avoid unnecessary delays, send:
- The correctly completed live electronic J193 or J187 form.
- Your requested publication date.
- Clear instructions stating whether you require Gazette and newspaper publication, or only one of these services.
- Your invoicing details.
- Proof of payment in accordance with your quotation and booking instructions.
- A contact person’s name, email address and telephone number.
A request for a quote is the first step. The completed form, payment and booking requirements must still be finalised.
The electronic form must be completed correctly
The Gazette uses electronic forms with interactive fields. The correct publication date must be selected using the form’s dropdown menu and the relevant province must be completed.
Send the original completed electronic PDF. Printing, scanning or recreating the form can remove the interactive features needed for processing.
If you are unsure which form to use or how to complete a field, contact Legal Notice Publishing before submitting it.
What happens if you miss the deadline?
A late or incomplete submission may need to move to the next available publication date. This can affect the estate’s administration timetable.
If a booking moves, the publication date on the electronic form must also be checked and updated correctly. Do not assume that a form showing an earlier date can be used unchanged.
Coordinating Gazette and newspaper publication
When booking both services, provide one clear instruction covering Government Gazette publication and newspaper publication on Nuusflits.
If you have already arranged one publication separately, tell us its scheduled date so that we can advise on the remaining booking.
After publication, retain the relevant proofs in the estate file.
