Legal notices are not published automatically. They must first be submitted to a compliant service provider before strict cut-off times to allow for formatting, proofing, quotation where applicable, approval and scheduling for publication in the Government Gazette.

February 2026 Legal Notice submission deadlines
All legal notices must be submitted to LegalNotice.co.za by 12:00 midday on the dates below to secure publication in the corresponding Government Gazette edition:
• 3 February 2026 at 12:00
Submission deadline for Government Gazette publication on 13 February 2026
• 10 February 2026 at 12:00
Submission deadline for Government Gazette publication on 20 February 2026
• 17 February 2026 at 12:00
Submission deadline for Government Gazette publication on 27 February 2026
• 24 February 2026 at 12:00
Submission deadline for Government Gazette publication on 6 March 2026
Submissions received after these cut-off times cannot be guaranteed placement in the intended Gazette issue.
Why Legal Notice submission deadlines matter
The Master of the High Court assesses compliance based on the actual date of Gazette publication, not the date a notice was drafted, signed, or emailed.
Missing a Legal Notice submission deadline may result in delays in estate administration, extended objection periods, Master’s Office queries or rejection, and additional publication costs.
Meeting the submission deadline ensures that notices are processed correctly and published within the required statutory timeframe.
What happens after a Legal Notice is submitted
Once a legal notice is submitted to LegalNotice.co.za, the following steps take place:
• The notice is edited and formatted for legal compliance
• A proof is prepared and sent for approval
• Government Gazette placement is arranged where required
• The notice is scheduled for publication
• Proof of publication is issued after release
This process applies to Notices to Creditors under Section 29, Liquidation and Distribution Accounts under Section 35, curator notices, and other statutory estate notices.
